This past July 8 2026 was the 250th anniversary of the first reading of the Declaration of Independence for that celebration the chapter members of the Camp Charlotte Sons of the American Revolution, the Pickaway Plains Daughters of the American Revolution and the Chief Cornstalk chapter of Children of the American Revolution participated in the reading of the document and honor the Revolutionary war patriots who have been recorded as being buried in in the Pickaway County area. Membership in the Sons of the American Revolution is open to any man, age 18 or older, who can prove lineage to an ancestor who supported the war for American Independence, through military service, support, or political figures who supported the revolutionary effort.
