2026 Washington Courthouse Grave marking event and Pomeroy sign dedication

April 19th Camp Charlotte Chapter SAR with the assistance of the Hocking Valley chapter , Centennial Chapter, Arthur St. Clair Chapter and 1st Vice President OHSSAR Doug Pettit attended the Grave Marking of George Rupert the grave located in the Sugar Creek Baptist Cemetery in Washington Court house is located on a little hill over looking state route 35 this is an old cemetery with many headstone weathered by many years of the various seasons. The weather was bright and sunny but the wind was pretty blustery making temperatures feel quite chilly. The 8th PA regiment was nearby and decided to help out with some of the ceremonies which for a Re-enacting group added a nice touch to the event. This event also was a dedication of one of many Pomeroy Foundation signs that will be placed across Ohio marking cemeteries that have Patriots from the American Revolution.

2026 Swope-Cole Family Cemetery Grave Marking

April 16th The OHSSAR and DAR were ask to give a grave marking ceremony to a patriot who it buried at the Swope-Cole cemetery near Amanda Ohio. The cemetery is cared for by Professor Scott Barr and is in the process of being reconditioned after years of neglect. Members of the SAR chapters Hocking Valley, Camp Charlotte and Benjamin Franklin with members from the DAR chapters Pickaway Plains and Elizabeth Sherman Reese were all in attendance. The weather was very blustery put plenty of sunshine. Afterwards we were invited to a picnic down in the old walnut grove.

2026 American 250th State House event

April 15th The State 250th commission organized help an American Revolution encampment event in front of the state house lawn. Many reenactors were present to show the public a little of what it was like during the late 1700. On hand were the 8th Pennsylvanian regiment were there to show life as a soldier in the revolutionary war. Camp Charlotte was there show many of the items the militia would have had during that time. The weather while quite sunny was very very windy causing many items all over the field to be simply carried off into the wind.

2026 Granville Daffodil Show

April 11 Members of the OHSSAR were asked to attend the Granville Garden Clubs 250th celebration Daffodil Show. This is held each year but because of the 250th birthday coming up the organizers thought it would be nice to have some members from both the SAR and DAR in attendance to add to the theme. The weather was very nice for the event at the Bryn Du mansion. The local newspaper The reporting Project was on hand interviewing many and taking various Photos of the activities going on around the property .

2026 Westerville elementary 250th event

On March 11th in our on-going dedication to the SAR Youth education learning, members of the OHSSAR chapters The Hocking Valley and Camp Charlotte were invited to give a little presentation on Colonial living at the Westerville Hanby Elementary school. Members Kevin T. Donahue Camp Charlotte, Tom Hankins Hocking Valley, Bob Hill Hocking Valley and Max Demp Camp Charlotte provide a number of items of interest and knowledge from the period of the American Revolution all the kids were from various 4th grade classes and were pleasantly entertained with what we brought to share.

2026 Camp Charlotte Chapter SAR awards banquet

February 21 2026 Camp Charlotte held their first ever Awards banquet at the Crown Hill Golf course honoring many with awards in the local community. Award of Medal of Heroism, Emergency Medical Services and many others were handed out with certificates of appreciation given to many that have helped the Camp Charlotte chapter in the past to promote the work of the SAR. Chapter President Kevin Driesbach was the host of honor for the event. A special surprise was given by Chapter member Tony Holbrook on a gavel that was made with 7 pieces of wood from various American revolutionary locations and presented to President Driesbach. Wood from all over were use to embellish the gavel even the original Logan Elm tree from which Chief Logan gave his instrumental speech and wood from the cabin at Point Pleasant are a part of this instrument.

2026 Benjamin Franklin George Washington Birthday Celebration.

February 21 2026 The Benjamin Franklin SAR chapter held the annual celebration of our first president George Washington. This year was a very good group with an approximately 122 individuals show up the party. Entertainment was been handled by the Heritage FIFE and DRUM corp. Members of the Camp Charlotte and Benjamin Franklin chapters provided under the direction of State Color Guard Commander Color participated in the color guard duties and opening ceremonies.

2025 Wreaths across America .

On Monday 8th December we received our truck load of wreaths that we will be laying on Saturday the 13th. Will be posting more of the ceremonies after the event. None the less it was cold and glad we had 10 brave individuals to handle it all …

Saturday December 13 12:00 pm all the prep and hard work comes to an end and after the opening ceremonies and honors the many volunteers and members of the Camp Charlotte and Hocking Valley SAR and Pickaway Plains and Mathias Ridenour DAR Chapters worked to put as many wreaths on the various veterans grave sites in Forest cemetery. Thanks for the photos from Brooklyn Dunn and the ladies of the Pickaway Plains Daughters of the American Revolution for the photo entries.

2025 Westfall Veterans day event

This past Tuesday November 11th Veterans day Westfall High school held a program to honor all our military service members past and present. The chapters of the Pickaway Plains DAR and Camp Charlotte SAR were both invited to participate in the event. Christine Lallier set the tone by reading a daughters letter to the attendees that was to her veteran father the day she visited the Vietnam memorial to remember his and other that sacrificed their lives so we could have the freedom we so cherish.
